When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost due to friction. During braking in a hybrid, however, regenerative braking recovers a portion of this energy, sending it back to the battery to be stored for later use.

Two additional drive modes in the Grand Touring model let you choose how best to use your vehicle's electric power. Select the Preserve EV drive mode for hybrid performance using both engine and electric motor or Pure EV for electric-only driving. Both modes provide a smooth driving experience on city streets and highways.

In addition to at home, your electric battery can be charged at thousands of public charging stations across the U.S. Plus, you're backed by a gas engine that keeps you moving when plug-in charging isn't an option. Indulge in peace of mind. Lincoln plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are engineered to run on electric battery power, gasoline engine power or a balanced combination of both.
The network of North American charging stations is robust and growing every day. You can find the nearest station using the Lincoln Way® App.* When using the app, be sure to apply the filter to find locations that offer alternating current (AC) charging. Currently, Lincoln plug-in hybrid vehicles cannot accept a direct current (DC) charge.
